EGEDI project Vol.1
Egedi is a word in Ika land - where I'm from - used to describe something old, be it human, animal or in some rare cases things. For example, we say "ihien akale egedi" which means "this thing is old".
The series aims at a recreation of photographs of young or old people in old clothes previously worn by their parents in an old photograph, showing how even though we might be so many years apart from our parents, we're really just so alike, a classic representation of the apple never really falling far from the tree.
For egedi, I'm looking at creating regular but very appealing images with powerful stories. The uniqueness in this project is in finding old photos of parents, finding the clothes they're are putting on in those photos and then recreating the photos with their child(children). It tells a tale of preserving history and culture.
With this project, I do not aim to show off photography skills - but I would, if there be a need -, I just want to tell stories, acknowledging that less is more, and utilizing photography as a means of influencing the society
